Impression Studs Gold

The Impression stud is a series of studs paying homage to impressionism. Drawn to capture the momentary and transient effects of sunlight, colour and the ever changing light the impressionists preferred to work outside and translate their surroundings onto canvas in quick, broad strokes.

In the late 19th century ‘impression” was frequent term to describe a really rapid sketch of something. These works were not to be exhibited as they were not seen as finished. Monet pushed these boundaries and labeled the works to be finished pieces.

The Impressionists found that they could capture the momentary and transient effects of sunlight by painting outdoors or en plein air. In their persistent pursuit of an art of spontaneity, sunlight, and colour, Monet, Sisley, Morisot, and Pissarro may be regarded the “purest” impressionists.

“Every day I discover
more and more
beautiful things.
It’s enough to drive one mad.
I have such a desire
to do everything,
my head is bursting with it.”
